Shirley Vanbrunt Phelan

SHIRLEY S. PHELAN RIGBY, ID -- Shirley Sue Phelan, 62, of Rigby, died August 7, 2005, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. She was born April 24, 1943, in Murphy, Oklahoma, to Carl VanBrunt and Patsy Lee Hagerman VanBrunt. The family moved to Oakley, California where she attended Oakley Middle School and graduated from Liberty Union High School. On September 18, 1960, she married Barney James Phelan, Sr. in Oakley, California. They lived in California most of their lives then moved to Grants Pass, Oregon. In April of 2005, they moved to Rigby. She worked as a property manager and as an accountant. She was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Shirley enjoyed cooking, was a wonderful hostess, and loved being a mother and grandmother. Survivors: Husband: Barney Phelan, Sr., Rigby, ID Daughter: Karen (Brad) Jones, Crescent City, CA Daughter: Lisa (Don) Smith, Grants Pass, OR Son: Barney (Paula) Phelan, Jr., Rigby, ID Daughter: Susan (Matthew) Elliott, Idaho Falls, ID Brother: Paul (Barbara) VanBrunt, Locust Grove, OK Brother: Jerry (Carol) VanBrunt, Ammon, ID Sister: Mae Treece, Oakley, CA 18 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister and 1 brother. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 10, 2005 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1480 Jefferson Avenue, with Brother Randy Oksendahl officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
