Shirley Watts Hart

Shirley Olsen Watts Hart, 78, of Idaho Falls, passed away October 17, 2010 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. She was born August 7, 1932 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Bruce Milford Olsen and Mary Elizabeth Kingston Olsen. Shirley married Theris Watts in 1950 and together they had eight children. They made their home in Iona and later divorced. In 1974 she married Josiah Hart and they divorced in 1976. Shirley moved with her children to Ammon, then moved to Croft Street in Idaho Falls where her mother and her sister lived. She resided there for 34 years. Shirley worked as a realtor for Ed Grayson Realty for years in Idaho Falls. She was the first female County Assessor in Bonneville County. In 1976, she started working for the Small Business Administration and was the first female cadre verifier in the United States for the SBA. She also worked for FEMA, where she was employed until her death. She traveled the entire country to aid in disasters and over the course of her career she traveled to every state in the Union. In June of this year, she attended her last FEMA disaster in Tennessee. Shirley was involved in many ventures with her brothers and children. She was an avid rock hound, as well as a talented artist accomplished in many things: fly-tying, oil painting, china painting, doll making, ceramics, lace draping, and jewelry making. Best of all, she had a gift for raising children. She loved her children, grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews and was always aware of what was going on in their lives. She loved her close friends and special sisters-in-law. Survivors include her eight children Bruce (Kerry) Watts of Idaho Falls, James (Barbara) Watts of Hawaii, Louise Fullmer of Utah, Joe (Julie) Watts of Idaho Falls, Roy (Wendy) Watts of Utah, Annette (Steve) Henman of Utah, Ray (Kathy) Hart of Idaho Falls, and Mike Hart of Nevada. She is also survived by 35 Grandchildren & 37 Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters, and six grandchildren.

Funeral Services

Saturday October 23, 2010 , 11:00 a.m. at Lincoln LDS Stake Center (2454 Mesa)

The family will visit with friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday evening at Wood Funeral Home (273 North Ridge Avenue) and 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
