Shirley Geisler

Shirley Geisler (née Dick), a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, teacher, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026, in San Jose, California. She was 98 years old.

Born on April 18, 1928, in Taylor, Idaho, Shirley grew up with a love for learning and a deep commitment to education. After graduating from Idaho Falls High School, she pursued higher education at Idaho State College and later earned her degree in Elementary Education from the University of Utah. Her passion for teaching led her to further her studies at Santa Clara University, where she completed a master's degree in Early Childhood Education.

Shirley dedicated her life to shaping young minds as an educator. Holding a K-8 teaching credential, she taught in schools across Idaho, Washington, Oregon, and California. While she taught all grade levels from kindergarten through eighth grade during her career, her true calling was early childhood education. She spent much of her professional life teaching kindergarten, where her nurturing spirit and dedication left an indelible mark on countless students.

Beyond her professional achievements, Shirley had a creative flair that shone through in her hobbies and interests. She had a talent for interior decorating and took great joy in planning and hosting events. Her love for flowers and ribbons inspired her to create beautiful ornate decorative wreaths that brought warmth and charm to any space.

Shirley's faith was a cornerstone of her life. As a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she found strength and inspiration through her membership and service within the church community. Her willingness to serve and her wholehearted dedication to her callings and commitment to service was of the utmost importance to her.

She is survived by her children: Kari Geisler, Jana Thrash, David Geisler, and Wade Geisler. Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Robert Geisler Jr., who shared in many of the joys and milestones of her remarkable life.

Those who knew Shirley will remember her as a truly remarkable person with the highest moral standards. Her kindness, creativity, and unwavering dedication to family and faith touched the lives of everyone around her. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
