Click Here To View Memorial Video Shirley Ann Gray Barrie, 76, of Idaho Falls, passed away on November 14, 2014, at her home. She was born September 28, 1938, in Idaho Falls to Merton James Gray and Rose Jenkins Gray. She grew up and attended schools in the York area and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. She continued her education by attending Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. On October 4, 1961, she married Robert Wayne Barrie in the Logan LDS Temple. They made their home in Ucon where she was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. Shirley also worked as an elementary school teacher for 34 years. She served many years in the Idaho Education Association (I.E.A.) including a term as President and volunteered as a Poll Worker during elections. Shirley was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as an Idaho Falls Temple worker, had multiple teaching positions including the Temple Prep Class, was Primary President, and Young Women’s President. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, baking, gardening, canning, and loved helping her husband as a harvest truck driver. Survivors are: Daughter: Brenda Barrie (John) Redford, Highlands Ranch, Colorado Daughter: Janet Barrie (Micheal) Kerswell, Ogden, Utah Son: Mark (Peggy) Barrie, Idaho Falls, Idaho Daughter: Amy Barrie (Scott) Pierce, West Jordan, Utah Son: Doug (Heather) Barrie, Idaho Falls, Idaho Sister: Velma Risenmay, American Fork, Utah 17 Grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Susan G. Barrie; and three brothers, Dean, Nile and Robert. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 20, 2014, at the Milo LDS Ward Building (12127 N. 75th E.) with Bishop Allan Johnson officiating. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday from 6-8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge) and on Thursday from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the Ucon Cemetery. .
