Sheri Kay McMillin, 60, of Ammon, Idaho, passed away Sunday, August 3, 2014, at her home.
A beautiful dancer, artist and animal lover, Sheri McMillin could always light up a room. Born September 24, 1953, outside of Chicago, Illinois, to Richard Smith and Billie Thornton Smith, she later moved to Idaho, where she graduated from Idaho Falls High School. She was nicknamed "Smiley" by her adopted dad, the late Dr. John McMillin, who always encouraged and supported Sheri as his own.
On July 18, 1993, she married Paul Frederick Woerz, in Las Vegas, Nevada. A trained dancer from childhood, Sheri took her talents to New York, LA and Las Vegas, where she performed as a professional dancer in the MGM production, Hallelujah Hollywood. She also worked as a model in New York and enjoyed traveling the world for work or fun. Sheri was equally passionate about her love for animals, rescuing dozens over the years. Her beloved cats brought her great joy and were always a special part of her life.
After relocating from LA back to Idaho Falls in 1994, Sheri's family of animals grew as she and Paul built a stable at their home for horses. Sheri loved to ride, especially at nighttime during the beautiful Idaho summers. A truly creative person, Sheri was also an artist, beading exquisite handmade bags with one-of-a-kind jewels. Her creations were featured in some of the finest shops and galleries in Sun Valley and Jackson Hole. Her talent, sharp mind and quick wit made Sheri someone who was always fun to be around. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Woerz of Ammon, her mother, Billie McMillin of Idaho Falls, ID; her brother, Alan Smith of Boise, ID; and her two nieces, Jennifer Smith Gallwas and Rachel Smith. She is preceded in death by her beloved Grandmother, Kathryn Craft, and her father, Dr. John McMillin.
Graveside Services will be held in September at the Ammon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in Sheri’s honor to the Bonneville County Humane Society, 444 North Eastern, Idaho Falls, ID 83402, or online at www.bonnevillehumane.org.
