Shelly Joyce Havlovick, 47, of Idaho Falls passed away Friday, Sept. 21, 2012.
Shelly was born to Carol and Ross Barefoot on April 30, 1965, in Missoula, MT. At a young age her parents moved to Baker, MT where she was raised, and attended high school. She attended Montana Tech in Butte, MT earning a degree in Occupational Safety and Health in 1987. Shelly later completed her Master’s degree in Environmental Science by attending night school at the University of Idaho in 1997.
Throughout her career Shelly was employed by BCM Engineers and The University of South Alabama in Mobile, AL, as well as EG&G Idaho, Argonne National Laboratory-West, and Battelle Energy Alliance in Idaho Falls.
Shelly married Bradley Havlovick of Polson, MT in 1987 and they brought into the world three wonderful children. Shelly was very proud of her family. Shelly loved to buy and sell Longaberger baskets and decorated her home and office with many of them. She also supplied her friends with opportunities to share in the joy of gathering with her for Pampered Chef and jewelry parties. Shelly donated time and monetary contributions to many organizations. She cared for her family and friends, had a heart of gold, and was an inspiration to all. She will be dearly missed.
Shelly volunteered significant time to her workplace and her community. She served as chair for the Idaho Falls American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life in 1998 and 1999, and was on the Relay Planning Committee in 2000. As an active member of Idaho Women in Nuclear (Women in Science and Technology), Shelly was instrumental in the formation of the Idaho chapter of WIN and volunteered at the Annual Young Women’s Conference, and helped organize the Argonne-West Take Our Daughters to Work Day in April 1998. She also was very involved with the annual Argonne-West Christmas for Families Program. Shelly was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, where she served as a State Regent and several other state offices. She served on national committees and as a page. Shelly volunteered time by assisting the public health service through home evaluations for families having health problems due to their living environments. In 2000, Shelly was the recipient of the INEEL Woman of the Year honor for outstanding contributions in the work place.
She is survived by her husband, Bradley and her loving children Jacob of Butte, Zachary of Pocatello, ID and Josette of Idaho Falls, her parents Ross and Carol Barefoot of Kalispell, MT, her brothers Jeffrey Barefoot of Reno, NV, Hartley Barefoot (Kellee Jo) of Lake Ridge, VA, Benjamin Barefoot (Lita) of Kalispell, her sisters Margo Duneman of Missoula, Ruth Barefoot of Morgan Hill, CA, Rebecca Pasley (Rick) of Redwood City, CA, Jae Kortekaas (Marty) of Marysville, WA, Glenna Nelson (Dan) of Arlee, MT, Molly Mummy of Spokane, WA, and Jessie Walters of Great Falls, MT.
Shelly is preceded in death by her sister, Kim Barefoot of Missoula.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge) in Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in New Sweden Cemetery.
