Sheldon Lee Kernes

Sheldon Lee Kernes, passed away on July 3, 2025, in Seymour, Texas.

He was born to Elmer “Ed” Kernes and Gladys Mae Cue Kernes, on December 9, 1948, in Burlington, Colorado.

He attended Bonneville High School, BYU, ISU, and Northwestern Oklahoma State University, receiving two associate degrees.

Sheldon served in the Army in Vietnam, the National Guard, and served as Deputy for the Kiowa Police Department in Kiowa, Kansas.

On October 22, 1968, he married Cheri M. Rigoulot in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple.

He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed building and customizing old cars, car shows, and his dogs.

Sheldon is survived by his 4 children, 8 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, ex-wife, stepbrother, and two stepsisters.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery, in Ririe, Idaho.
