Sheila Foster, 78, of Rexburg, passed away of natural causes July 20, 2026, at her home. She was under the care of Aspen Home Health & Hospice and her loving family.
Sheila was born March 13, 1948, in Monterey Park, California, to James Derral Anderson and Lila Gardner Anderson. She grew up and attended schools in San Gabriel, California, and graduated from Mark Keppel High School.
On July 30, 1966, she eloped with Robert “Bob” Ernest Foster to Las Vegas, Nevada. They were looking forward to celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary in 10 days. They only spent about 27 days total in the 3 months after their marriage before Bob was off to Vietnam. Sheila, and later their oldest baby, lived with her mom and dad while Bob was there. After Bob returned from Vietnam, they started their life in California, but eventually her sister begged her to leave the sun and great shopping for the small town where they grew up vacationing and visiting their aunts, uncles, and cousins in Eastern Idaho. At first, she struggled with the cold and small town, but she finally loved and felt at home here.
Sheila was a caring, fun, loving mother, a babysitter, taking children into her home to love and care for them, drove school bus, drove the Senior Citizen bus-her call sign was KNCK927–she drove, loved, and cared for the elderly in the Rexburg Community. She worked for 20 years at Kmart, spending much of that time as a pharmacy technician. When Kmart closed their doors, she worked part time at Temple View Care Center planning activities for the residents. She worked hard her whole life loving the people of this community.
Sheila was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many callings in the Primary, Sunday School, and Relief Society. She served a service mission with Bob doing Humanitarian Aid. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, reading, and most importantly, spending time with her family, especially her children, their spouses, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved watching her family grow.
Sheila is survived by her husband, Bob Foster of Rexburg, ID; son, Ross (Cheryl) Foster of Shelley, ID; son, Corey (Charlotte) Foster of Rexburg, ID; daughter, Rochelle Foster of Rexburg, ID; daughter, Ranalee Foster of Rexburg, ID; brother, Herb Anderson of Wrightwood, CA; 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Deloy Anderson; sister, Norlene Reichenbach; and grandson, Weston Foster.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the Lyman Church Building, 1952 West 6000 South. The family will visit with friends Monday from 6:30-8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00-9:45 a.m. prior to services, with both visitations at the church. Burial will be in the Archer-Sutton Cemetery.
