Shayne "Pete" Linderman - 03/23/2002
SHAYNE 'PETE' LINDERMAN IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Shayne Daniel “Pete” Linderman, 52, of Newdale, died March 20, 2002, at the John C. Lincoln Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona of heart failure.
Just following the blizzard of 1949, Shayne “Pete” Linderman was born on April 13th to Shayne Thomas Linderman and Bette Jean Gill Linderman. His family was snowed in much of the winter, not knowing if they would be able to make it to Rexburg, where he was born. He grew up on the family dry farm in Clementsville, Idaho.
He attended Madison High School and graduated in 1967. He served as class president, president of the boy’s club, played football and was also on the scholastic team. He was accepted into the Coast Guard Academy, but instead chose to attend Utah State University, graduating in 1972 with a degree in computer science and math. He returned home after graduation and began farming in the Terreton area.
He married Dee O’Hare Mortensen in 1973 and was later divorced. Pete later chose to leave the area. He lived in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Lake Havasu City, and eventually moved to Phoenix where he worked as a general contractor.
While growing up, he spent a great deal of time with his uncle, Robert D. Linderman, who taught him how to fly. He eventually went on to get his commercial pilots license. He enjoyed all water sports. He was an avid fly fisherman, water skier, and scuba diver.
He was very kind to all animals, and especially loved his cats. According to his friends in Phoenix, he kept feeding stations all over the city, catching the cats, having them vaccinated and neutered and giving them a home himself or finding them a good home.
He will be greatly missed by his Mother, Sister, and his dear Uncle Bob, just as they have missed him since his departure eleven years ago.
Surviving him are his mother, Bette, as well as one sister, Catherine L. Linderman, M.D., an aunt, Sharon Gill, and two uncles, Robert D. Linderman and Ralph Gill. Also, three cousins, Carol Carroll of South Carolina, Elizabeth Lockhart of Jackson, Wyoming and Robert Gill of Jackson, Wyoming. He was preceded in death by his father, Shayne T. Linderman, and his grandparents, Kathryn and Dan Linderman of Clementsville and Helen and Lew Gill of Jackson, Wyoming.
Funeral Services will be at 12 Noon Wednesday, March 27, 2002, at the Wood Chapel of the Pines. The family will visit with friends for one hour prior to the services on Wednesday at Wood Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, he would appreciate donations to the Teton Valley Humane Society, 185 East 25th North, Driggs, ID 83422 (phone 208-354-3499).
Burial will be in the Cache-Clawson Cemetery in Tetonia under the direction of Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, Idaho Falls, Idaho 83402-4092. Phone: (208) 522-2751 FAX: (208) 522-5413.
