He was born July 27, 1954, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Robert Eugene Parkinson and Lynette Woodland Parkinson. He left Idaho with his family when he was five years old and grew up in Seattle, Washington; Concord, California; and Houston, Texas. Shawn served in the Paris, France Mission between 1974 and 1976. In 1988, he came back to Idaho, and it was just like coming home. He loved the outdoors, the change of seasons, and a simple lifestyle. Idaho was a great place to raise a family. He loved to write and play music, build furniture, hunt, fish, snowmobile, and basically tinker. Anything to stay busy. The most joy came from spending time with family. He worked as a building contractor in Houston in his early years and at the Idaho National Lab in many capacities of the environmental arena for 23 years. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many different and enjoyable callings, especially in the Primary. He loved children and loved to be around them. According to him, they were our last source of innocence in this ever changing world. Shawn is survived by his wife, Debbie Parkinson; mother, Lynette Parkinson; sons, Bob (Jen) Parkinson, Ben (Kim) Parkinson, Chad (Kat) Parkinson, Steven (Chelsea) Gardner, Ryan (Aubree) Gardner; daughter, Rachael (Korv) Green; brothers, Gard (Linda) Parkinson, Brad (Carla) Parkinson, Dain (Kyle) Parkinson, Scott (Beth) Parkinson; a whole bunch of grandchildren, Gavyn and Jayde Parkinson, Madyson, Jackson, and William Parkinson, Stelios and Georgia Mel Parkinson, Kaelie, Rafe, Riya, Tylee, and Blakely Gardner, and Everett Green. Shawn's family would really like to thank all those who were such a support to him throughout his life.
