Sharree Kay Peterson Wright, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on March 14, 2025, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Born on November 22, 1949, in Shelley, Idaho, Sharree was the cherished youngest daughter of the late Sheldon "Pete" Peterson and Zola Dalton Peterson.
Sharree was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Wright, whom she married on May 20, 1995, her brother Richard, and her parents. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Tracie Fish, married to Joe Fish, of Kansas City, and Troy Young, married to Tammy Young, of Phoenix. Her legacy continues through her adored grandchildren: Chrystal Bumbaugh, married to Adam Bumbaugh; Allysha Marotta, married to Steve Marotta; and Teryn Young, as well as her five great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life. She is also survived by her brother, Terrell Peterson, of Bend, Oregon; her sister, Genene Hutchens, married to Dean Hutchens, of Yuma, Arizona; and her sister, Shelda Peterson, of Idaho Falls, Idaho. She is survived, and fondly remembered, by many nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors, as Sharree held a special place in the hearts of all who knew her and who fondly remember the warmth, love, and laughter shared during gatherings at "Aunt" Sharree's.
Sharree attended Shelley High School and was a lifelong learner in the "School of Hard Knocks." She was always a nurturing presence in everything she did. As a hairdresser, Sharree had an incredible knack for connecting with people. She was quick to offer her clients a drink and the attentive ear of a natural-born gossip, creating a space filled with conversation and laughter that made each appointment a special experience. During her children's younger years, she babysat countless neighborhood children, creating a safe and loving space for them. She also worked road construction as a flagger, proudly protecting the lives of hundreds of highway construction workers — a testament to her strong sense of responsibility and care for others.
Sharree and Lloyd shared a deep love of the outdoors. Together, they spent countless happy moments fishing, boating, and exploring the beautiful Idaho countryside on their ATVs. One of their favorite spots was their cherished property in Swan Valley, Idaho, where they found joy and peace in the natural beauty surrounding them, and friendship and camaraderie with the many like-minded souls they spent time with there.
Her passion for cooking was her way of expressing love, and her home was a hub of warmth, laughter, and delicious meals, always accompanied by spirited conversations. Sharree's vibrant personality shone in her devotion to her family, her pride in her children, and her ability to make others feel cared for.
Sharree will be fondly remembered for the moments of joy she brought to others, including singing at the top of her lungs at Albertson's to the embarrassment of her kids — a classic example of her humor and zest for life. Those who knew Sharree could attest to her caring nature and the special way she connected with everyone she met.
A celebration of Sharree's life will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, with a service from 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed by an open house with light refreshments from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Stockman's, 1175 Pier View Drive, in Idaho Falls.
