Sharon Lou Tobias, 85, of Idaho Falls, passed away January 28, 2025, at her home with her family present. She was under the care of her loving family and Aspen Hospice.
Sharon was born July 24, 1939, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Gordon Douglas Place and Evelyn Bjornn Place. She grew up in Salt Lake City, and then moved with her family in 1955 to Sunnyvale, California. After graduation from high school, she worked as a secretary for Sylvania Electronics in Palo Alto, California, before attending Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.
On March 20, 1959, she married Dale Arthur Tobias in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together, they had four wonderful children, three sons and one daughter. They were happily married for 62 years prior to Dale’s passing. Sharon and Dale lived in Provo, Utah, San Jose, California, Denver, Colorado, and in 1965, they made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in leadership and teaching positions on both ward and stake levels. She also served in the Idaho Falls Temple as an ordinance worker. Sharon loved music and enjoyed singing in duets, trios, and various choirs. Sharon was a generous, caring wife, and a devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, handwork, sewing, ceramics, growing flowers in her yard, as well as gardening. She loved her family and loved being a mother and grandmother. Her greatest joy was to know that her children and grandchildren walked in truth and righteousness.
Sharon is survived by her son, Steven (Janalee) Tobias of South Jordan, UT; son, Michael (Melba) Tobias of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Christine (Dave) Nelson of Rigby, ID; 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Evelyn Place; husband, Dale Arthur Tobias; son, Scott Ryan Tobias; and her brother, Douglas Place.
Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at the Idaho Falls Templeview Ward, 1450 Mountain View Lane. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30-11:15 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
