Sharon Frances Hughes Forsythe, 84, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 5, 2011, at her home of natural causes. Sharon was born December 20, 1926, in Bakersfield, California, to Howard Milton Hughes and Frances Elizabeth Andrews Hughes. Although she was an only child, she considered her cousin, Mildred Grant, her little sister and dear friend. She was raised in Bakersfield, but attended schools in Avenal, California. She later attended Bakersfield Community College. Sharon married William Wallace Forsythe on September 30, 1950, in Las Vegas. They lived in Bakersfield until 1961, when they moved to Bountiful, UT. A homemaker and mother, Sharon also worked as a bookkeeper for Western Mortgage in Salt Lake City, Utah. Following retirement in 1979, Sharon and her husband moved back to Bakersfield. Her husband passed away in 1980. During her retirement years in California, Sharon was active in Eastern Star, she enjoyed bowling leagues and needlework, and she was an avid volunteer at the Kern County Museum and Annual Fair. In 2009, Sharon moved to Idaho Falls to be near her youngest son. She lived at Bonaventure, where she thoroughly enjoyed her new friends, the staff, and the many activities. She also deeply appreciated the staff at Gem State Dialysis. While in Idaho Falls, she attended Calvary Chapel, and enjoyed the messages and ministry. Sharon is survived by her three sons, Thomas (Barbara) Forsythe of Marlton, NJ, Richard (Veronica) Forsythe of Thousand Oaks, CA, and Howard (Sheri) Forsythe of Idaho Falls, ID; fourteen grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and an infant son. Local arrangements are under the direction of Wood Funeral Home, 273 N.
