Sharon Agnes Clark Butikofer, 84, passed away on November 25, 2023, at Copper Summit Assisted Living in Pocatello, Idaho. She was born March 27, 1939, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Denzle J. and Phyllis Mendenhall Clark. She was the second of five children. Sharon grew up in Idaho Falls where she attended schools and graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1957. She also attended Salt Lake City Business College. When she returned to Idaho Falls, she worked as a legal secretary for Alvin Denman.
On August 2, 1957, she married Larry J. Butikofer in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They moved to Pocatello in late 1957 where her husband was employed by Garrett Freightlines. While raising her two children, she attended Idaho State University part time and worked part time through the years in various businesses as a legal secretary, then in a printing studio; later she worked for a real estate office and as a medical secretary for an oral surgeon for seven years and a neurosurgeon for two years. Sharon was involved through the years in both family history research and oil painting. Her impressionist art was represented by galleries in Pocatello, Salt Lake City, Jackson Hole, Sedona and Sante Fe. She also enjoyed instructing many students over the years in her home art studio. She served two Family History Missions at the Family History Library. Sharon took piano lessons in her early years and played in her church's Primary at 12 years of age. She continued playing the piano and later the organ in most of the organizations in the local wards where she lived. Sharon had played organ in both the Denver Temple and in the Idaho Falls Temple. She continued playing for the Relief Society in her 79th year. She would remark, "I want people to know that I loved the Lord and enjoyed serving Him."
She and her husband lived in Denver, Colorado, for five years where her husband was transferred with ANR Freightlines previously Garrett Freightlines. She came to love the beauty of the Rocky Mountains just as she had always enjoyed the Tetons. She found much inspirational material in Idaho and Colorado for painting. She enjoyed the outdoors and the sports of skiing, hiking, camping, hunting, and horseback riding. For all her interests, her family always came first.
Surviving Sharon are her two children, Douglas and Lori, four granddaughters and two great granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one sister, and her husband.
At the request of the deceased, she was cremated. A graveside service will be held at Grant Central Cemetery in Jefferson County at a later date for family members.
