Sharlene Kay (Metcalf) Croney

Sharlene Kay Croney, 60, of Ammon, passed away January 22, 2024, from a brief illness surrounded by her loving husband and children.

Sharlene was born June 19, 1963, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Donald Garland Metcalf and Delorace M. Hale Metcalf. She grew up and attended schools in Pocatello and graduated from Pocatello High School. Sharlene also attended Idaho State University.

On June 23, 1982, she married Jeffrey Doyle Croney in The Idaho Falls Temple. Sharlene and Jeffrey made their home in Ammon, Idaho, where Sharlene worked as a Bookkeeper for The Bank of Commerce. Sharlene and Jeff also owned and operated The Gangplank Restaurant in Idaho Falls.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Sharlene enjoyed crafting, needlework, painting, visiting Yellowstone and gardening. She loved spending time with her family and geocaching with Jeff.

Sharlene is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Jeffrey Doyle Croney of Ammon, ID; son, Jason (Britney) Croney of Ammon, ID, and daughter, Melissa (Blair) Hunting of Menan, ID; three sisters, LuWynn (Byron) Haws of Pocatello, ID, Clarice Metcalf of Pocatello, ID, and Cheryl (Doug) Howell of Chubbuck, ID; brother, Stephen Metcalf of Pocatello, ID; mother-in-law, Lillie Croney of Chubbuck, ID; and 9 grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law, Doyle Croney; and sister-in-law, Lou Chaston.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 29, 2024, at Ammon North Stake Center, 4363 East 17th Street, with Bishop Neil Price officiating. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, and Monday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior at the church. Burial will be in the Lava Hot Springs Cemetery.

The service at the church will be available via Zoom.
