Sharl Legrand Rhoades, 77, of Idaho Falls, passed away March 31, 2017, at his home. He was under the care of Aspen Home Health and Hospice. Sharl was born June 2, 1939, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Ezra Prichard Rhoades and Rosella Augusta Johnson Rhoades. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls. On April 10, 1965, he married Carol Poole in Elko, Nevada. They created a blended family. To this union were born two children, John and Pamela, and they were joined by Carol’s daughters, Cindy, Kelly, and Tawna. Sharl also had two children from a previous marriage, Tammy and Mike. Sharl and Carol made their home in Idaho Falls, where Sharl worked as a mason for 50 years. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and attending family reunions. Sharl is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Carol Rhoades of Idaho Falls; daughter, Tammy (Tim) Fillmore of UT; son, Mike Rhoades of UT; son, John Rhoades of ID; daughter, Pamela (David) Williams of ID; step daughter, Cindy (Terry) Niederer of ID; step daughter, Kelly (Keith) Miles of ID; step daughter, Tawna (Steve) Moore of ID; sister, Faye Whitney of Idaho Falls, ID; 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Ezra P. Rhoades, mother, Rosella A. Rhoades, a son, Bryce Rhoades, brothers, Carl, Arvin, August, Don and Leroy Rhoades, and sisters, Martha Lane and Goldie Burke. A gathering will be held from 1-3 p.m. Thursday, April 6, 2017, at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge).
