Shanna Ludene (Herbst) Wessel

Shanna LuDene Wessel, 64, of Idaho Falls, passed away July 1, 2023, at Idaho Falls Community Hospital.

Shanna was born April 4, 1959, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Devier Herbst and Bonnie Schaffer Herbst.  She grew up and attended schools in Arco, Mackay, and Idaho Falls and graduated from Skyline High School. She also attended Idaho State University and Vogue Beauty College.

On November 24, 1979, she married Doug Wessel in Idaho Falls. Shanna and Doug made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Shanna was a school teacher for Templeview Elementary and Ethel Boyes Elementary.

She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church. She  enjoyed wood working, taking photos, gardening, fishing, spending time at the cabin, and spending time in her craft room.

Shanna is survived by husband, Doug Wessel of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Dustin Wessel of Idaho Falls, ID; mother, Bonnie Davies of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Brad (Judy) Herbst of Island Park, ID; sister, Connie (Dave) Swanson of Sand Hollow, ID; and sister, Heather (Steve) Cole of Idaho Falls, ID.

She was preceded in death by her father, Devier Herbst.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Hope Lutheran Church, 2071 East 12th Street in Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior at the church. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
