Sena Marie Elizabeth Wilson Polson, age 90, of Idaho Falls, returned to live with her loving Heavenly Father on September 9, 2010. She passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family. She was born on August 6, 1920, in Brainerd, Minnesota to Minnie Josephine Larson and Leander Jackson Wilson. She was the 5th of eight children, five girls and three boys. She was raised in Brainerd where she enjoyed dancing, drum and bugle corps, playing the clarinet and traveling. She was educated in a one room schoolhouse through the eighth grade, graduated from Brainerd High School and attended post graduate school learning bookkeeping, shorthand and accounting skills. While working in Clearfield, Utah, for the Civil Service, Sena met and married Ivan John Polson on September 10, 1945, in Salt Lake City. Sena was baptized a member of the LDS Church in 1956, and their marriage was sealed in the Logan Temple June 19, 1965. They enjoyed farming in Moses Lake, Washington and working on the Minute Man Missile program for the government in Montana and North Dakota. In 1964, they moved to Seattle, Washington where they owned and operated Polson’s Rock Shop for 25 years and continued rasing their four children. Sena and Ivan retired and moved to Idaho Falls in 1990, remaining active in Civic and Church activities, traveling to Gem and Mineral Shows and visiting grandchildren. In 1992, Sena served a mission with Ivan in the Hartford Connecticut Mission. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in various Ward and Stake leadership positions. She was a homemaker, business women and fantastic mother and grandmother. She enjoyed bowling, sewing, stitchery, games, cooking and friends. Sena was known for her kindness and upbeat personality, generosity and willingness to help others. Her most cherished role was that of loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Family members and friends enjoyed receiving countless cards and letters of love and encouragement. Sena was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan John Polson, her parents and seven siblings. She is survived by her children; Ivan Joyn Jr. (Polly) Polson of Prineville, Oregon; Reneé (Blair) Condie of Lindon, Utah; Patsy (Michael) Baird of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and Rod (Donita) Polson of Auburn, Washington; 19 Grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 13, 2010, at the Idaho Falls LDS 28th Ward, 1165 Azalea, in Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge, and from noon to 12:45 p.m. Monday prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Perpetual Education Fund, 50 East North Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah, 94190-1501.
