SALLY SAMSEL
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Selma “Sally” Neiwirth
Samsel, 82, of Idaho Falls, died September 9, 2004, at Eastern Idaho Regional
Medical Center.
She was born April 23, 1922, in Thornton, Idaho, to Alexander
Neiwirth and Amalia Laubhaun Neiwirth. She lived in Burton until age 18,
attending Burton Elementary and Madison High School. After graduating
from high school she moved to Flint, Michigan, where she served in the
Civil Air Patrol during World War II.
She married Miles Carlsen in Caldwell, Idaho, in 1947.
The couple lived in Southeastern Idaho until his death in 1977. They had
three sons and were foster parents for two daughters. She married Millard
(Sam) Samsel in Idaho Falls in 1984 and the couple lived between Idaho
Falls and Overton, Nevada. After their divorce she moved to Hailey, Idaho,
for two years before moving back to Idaho Falls in 1996. A homemaker and
mother, she worked as a crop surveyor for the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
She was also a 4-H Leader and a mentor in Advocates for Survivors of Domestic
Violence. She enjoyed painting, sewing, crafts, reading, gardening, music,
fishing, camping, nature, wildlife and bird watching.

Sister: Erma (Robert) McDonald, Stockton, CA
3 Grandchildren, 3 Step Grandchildren, and 5 Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Miles Carlsen,
and a son, Eric Carlsen.
Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m Friday, September
17, 2004, at the Wood East Side Chapel, 963 South Ammon Road, with Chaplain
Marv Eld of Hospice of Eastern Idaho officiating.
The family will visit with friends Friday beginning at
12:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side.

Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park under the direction
of Wood Funeral Home East Side.
