Selma Kate Parkinson Isaacs, 95, of Ammon, passed away on June 23, 2016, at the Monte Vista Hills Care Center in Pocatello, Idaho. She was born June 15, 1921, in Plano, Idaho to Sedlie Williams Parkinson and Emma Kate Squires Parkinson. She grew up and attended schools in the area, graduating from Edmunds High School. She studied piano and organ with Ruth Barrus at Ricks College. On March 15, 1940, she married Chester Alvin Isaacs in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They made their home in Warm River, Idaho. To this union were born five children: Garry, Helen, Bruce, Steven, and Arland. Selma was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She was a very accomplished organist and pianist and shared her talent in many ways. She also enjoyed oil painting, sewing, and crocheting. Selma was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served three full-time missions for the church in Tonga; Grants, New Mexico; and Australia. Survivors are: Son: Garry Parkinson (Linda) Isaacs of Pocatello, Idaho Daughter: Helen Renee Hossner of Washington Son: Bruce Parkinson (Carolyn) Isaacs of Caldwell, Idaho Son: Steven Parkinson (Cindy) Isaacs of Chatteroy, Washington Brother: Ralph Parkinson of Arco, Idaho Brother: James (Cari) Parkinson of Honeyville, Utah Brother: Stanley (Marilyn) Parkinson of Layton, Utah Brother: Byron (Clara) Parkinson of Brigham City, Utah Sister: Ruby Borden of Moses Lake, Washington Sister: Christine (Clyde) Carroll of California 17 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Arland Parkinson Isaacs; three brothers, Ted, Leo, and Lynn; and a sister, Phyllis Jensen. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at the Idaho Falls LDS Woodruff 1st Ward, 1660 - 12th Street, with Bishop Kolby Cazier officiating. A viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Ammon Cemetery.
