SCOTT J. STEFFEN
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Scott Joseph Steffen, 38, of Idaho Falls, lost his battle with cancer on November 27, 2002.
Scott was born November 30, 1963, in Spearfish, South Dakota, to Ernest Eugene Steffen and Donna Dee Hoffine Steffen. He fished in Spearfish Creek until he was eleven years old, when his family moved to Townsend, Montana. He graduated from Townsend High School in 1982, by which time he had shot several deer, elk, antelope, coyote and gophers, as well as trapped beaver, mink and muskrats. He attended college at Montana State University and Brainard School of Taxidermy in Minnesota.
He worked at the Gregory, South Dakota Lumber Yard, where he met his future wife, Janet Lynn Bender. They moved to Las Vegas, where Scott worked for Sun State Components building trusses. Scott and Janet were married June 26, 1993. Their first daughter, Breanna, was born January 9, 1996, and in the summer of 1997, they moved to Idaho Falls where he was much happier to be near hunting and fishing again. He worked for Anderson Components as a design manager until the time of his death. His second daughter, Kira, was born November 10, 2002.
His greatest love, besides his wife and daughters, was the great outdoors, fishing, hunting, hiking and watching and photographing wildlife.
Scott is survived by his wife, Janet, and daughters, Breanna Lynn and Kira Jo, all of Idaho Falls; his mother, Donna Atkins of Idaho Falls, a sister, Carmel Steffen of Twin Falls, ID; grandmother, Frances Hoffine of Winner, South Dakota, and a niece and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gene Steffen, his Grandfather and Grandmother Steffen, and his Grandpa Hoffine.
Private Family services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 2, 2002 at the Ammon Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Aspen Home Health and Hospice.
