Scott Smith

Scotty Lynn Smith, 68, passed away November 6, 2022, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his loved ones. Scott was born March 4, 1954, in Salmon, Idaho, to George Russell Smith and Irene Rinker Smith. He was the oldest of three kids. He grew up attending schools in Salmon, Idaho, and played football for the Salmon Savages.

In 1972, Scott joined the Teamsters Union. His first job with the Union was the construction of the Teton Dam. He worked as a Teamster for 41 years before he retired in 2013. Scott was known for his expertise behind the wheel. Even after retirement, he worked as a 1099 truck driver until 2019.

With his first wife, Scott had two daughters, Venessa and Brandy. In a later relationship, Scott had one son, Damieon.

On December 31, 1990, he married Charisse Arnold. Scott and Charisse made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Together, they had three children, Jake, Shayley, and Shandon.

Scott loved NASCAR, rodeo, football, and truckin'. He enjoyed working on cars, especially his 1954 Chevrolet pickup. He also enjoyed fishing, playing his guitar, and being the center of attention. Scott was a larger-than-life character with a tall stance and an even bigger personality. He loved to entertain and always had a captive audience.

Scott had a tremendous work ethic. Even from a young age, he always maintained a job and was continuously engaged in a project. Scott's family was everything to him. He was always so incredibly proud of his children and grandchildren and loved to share in their milestones and accomplishments.

Scott is survived by his daughter, Brandy Smith of St. Anthony, ID; son, Damieon (Nikki) Smith of Blackfoot, ID; daughter, Shayley (Trevor) Bodily of Ammon, ID; son, Shandon (Alexis) Smith of Ammon, ID; wife, Charisse Smith of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Susan (Joel) Radford of Benton City, WA; brother, Jeffrey Smith of Kennewick, WA; sister-in-law, Cindy (Brent) Strong of Idaho Falls, ID; and sister-in-law, Chris (Mark) Evans of Chubbuck, ID; his 12 grandchildren, Zach (Kayla), Brandon (Mykel), Macy (Tevin), Jacoby, Bentley, Bryceson, Breckan, Booker, and Paisley; and his 3 great-grandchildren, Treygan, Keenan, and Rhiannon; plus many nieces and nephews, whom he loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Smith and Irene Rinker Olson; in-laws, Al and Dorothy Little and Gary Arnold; daughter, Venessa Smith; and son, Jake Smith.

The family would like to thank BRiO Home Health and Hospice, Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, and Wood Funeral Home for their care of Scott during this difficult time, with a special thanks to Liz Flores, Corey Boyd, and Kevin Bodily.
