Scott Michael Pope

Scott Michael Pope, 53, of Idaho Falls, passed away July 9, 2024, at his home.

Scott was born April 6, 1971, in Loma Linda, California, to Jerry Michael Pope and Margret May Dekle Pope. He grew up and attended grade school in Irwin, Idaho. He then went to high school in Carlsbad, New Mexico, until his senior year, when they moved to Idaho Falls, and he graduated from Idaho Falls High School. He was also a Sea Cadet during his senior year before going into the Navy.

Scott served 6 years in the United States Navy, where he learned Avionics and became a technician. He loved golf, swimming, fishing, shooting guns, Nascar, and playing chess.

Scott is survived by his son, Joseph M. Pope of Irving, TX;  his sister, Shela (Bill Haas) Sermon of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Shawn (Audrey) Crane of Artisia, NM; step-brother, Jessie (Susannah) Butikofer of Rigby, ID; step-brother, Dale Butikofer of Juneau, AL; step-sister, Danitra Butikofer Blevin of Pocatello, ID; and step-brother, Tyler (Amy) Butikofer of Grace, ID.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Michael Pope; mother, Margret May Butikofer; and his step-dad, Michael Butikofer.

Private family services will be held.
