SCOTT MARTIN HARPER
FLAGSTAFF, AZ -- Scott Martin Harper, 21, of Idaho Falls, ID, died in an accidental death April 25, 2002 in Coconino County, Arizona. He put up a valiant fight to survive his last moments here on earth.
He was born May 14, 1981 to Edwin Martin Harper, Jr. and Adele Hadley Harper in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He grew up and attended Falls Valley Elementary, Sandcreek Middle School, and graduated with honors from Hillcrest High School.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and had earned his Eagle Scout award. He also received the Hope of America Award and participated as a four-year letterman of varsity golf. He worked mostly in restaurant management and golf course maintenance.
His tender heart always touched others, especially the elderly. He was a peacemaker who had the power to wrap you with the warmth of love. His humorous presence in any gathering centered the event with fun and excitement. He enjoyed golf and even experienced a hole-in-one on #5 at Pinecrest when he was 14. He had a special talent in woodworking, where he crafted a beautiful table, shelves, and magazine rack. His love of the outdoors included hunting with his Dad and friends, fishing, and snowboarding. "He is the healer of the brokenhearted. He is the one who bandages their wounds." Psalm 147:3
Ed and Adele and family:
You are a kind and gentle spirited family full of that special love and generousity. It is difficult to understand the devine plan that God has for those we love and cherish.
"We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God - those whom he has called according to His plan." Romans 8:28
It is my prayer that your continued faithfulness in our Lord and Savior will give you the added strength and peace for the days and months that lie ahead for you.
"Blessed are those who mourn. They will be comforted." Matthew 5:4
May you find comfort and peace in the knowledge of that assured hope of eternal life through Christ Jesus.
"Come to me, all who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28
With heartfelt sympathy and peace to you and yours.

Ed,I just found out about your most recent loss. I am so sorry to hear that you and your family are having this difficult time.I just wanted you to know you and your family will be in my prayers and to let you know how much I enjoy your friendship. You and your wife are such good people, and some times its hard to figure out why things seem to happen the way they do. The Lord moves in mysterious ways and us mortals just some times do get it. But I do know this, this life is just a brief second and if we all could see what is waiting for us on the other side, we would all be lining up to go. You and your dear wife will have the time you need some day soon to be with your son, I know this with all my heart.God bless you and your family through this time of need. If I can be of any help, please call on me.
Your Friend,
Jon

Ed,
Mere days ago (or was it a decade?) I spent a night on a Boyscout outing in a cave West of Dubois with my son Paul and neighbors Ed and Scott. You shared your burner with me to warm a meal. Bats swooped through the cold night air above us as we slept. I've had positive thoughts regarding youand your son from that day forward. After I heard the tragic news yesterday I shed some tears. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
