Sara Kay Illum

Sara Kay Illum, 47, of Idaho Falls, passed away February 13, 2023, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center due to ongoing medical conditions.

Sara was born May 24, 1975, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Douglas Brent Illum and Maureen Bowler Illum. She grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls, graduating from Skyline High School.

Her favorite pastimes were going on adventures with her two sons, camping trips with her family, and weekly lunch dates with her parents. She also loved movie marathons, board games that never ended, road trips to nowhere, and loved being a huge support to her whole family. She was also an expert shopper; if you needed to find a bargain or a sale on something, she was your source.

Sara had amazing clerical skills and was incredibly detail oriented. She spent most of her adult career working in the mortgage field as the best loan processor the market has ever seen. She instantly became friends with all the people that she worked with. She was incredible, not only as a loan processor, but sharing her wealth of knowledge with those around her. She kept the office in line and made sure no detail too small was overlooked.

Sara is survived by her sons, Jalen Mitchell Gunn and Kaden DeShawn Gunn, both of Idaho Falls, ID; parents, Douglas and Maureen Illum of Idaho Falls; brother, Mark Douglas (Cheri) Illum of American Fork, UT; brother, Paul Christopher (Jill) Illum of Brigham City, UT; sister, Marty Ann Blair of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Erik Benjamin Illum of Couer d'Alene, ID; sister, Maren Elizabeth (Joe) Dominguez of Washington, UT; and her cherished nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Nathan William Illum; grandfather, Elmer Walter Illum; grandmother, Wilda Larece Illum; grandfather, Isaac Royal Bowler; and grandmother, Lenna Wilson Bowler.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
