LOIS E. STEELE
Lois Edith Mickelsen Steele, 84, of Idaho Falls, died December 29, 2003, at the Pine Brook Assisted Living Center in Rigby of causes incident to age.
She was born December 20, 1919, at Arco, Idaho, to Henry Noah Mickelsen and Sophia Chlotilda Hubbard Mickelsen. She moved to the Idaho Falls area with her family when she was young and grew up and attended schools here, including Sage Creek and Ucon Elementary. She moved to Iona when she was 14 and graduated from Iona High School. She has lived in Iona for 70 years.
She married J. Harold Steele November 26, 1937, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. She was a homemaker and mother and had also worked at the INEEL as an Administrative Assistant. Her husband passed away March 26, 1989.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in various positions throughout the years. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers (DUP), the Bonneville Art Association, and the Iona Centennial Committee. She enjoyed music, art, sewing, cooking, family history research, camping, and spending time with her family.

8 Grandchildren, 32 Great Grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Diane Steele, six brothers, Lloyd, Reuel, Royal, Budge, Guy, and Russell Mickelsen,
and two sisters, Emma Moedl and Thora Nelson.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, January 2, 2004, at the Iona LDS Stake Center, Ririe Highway & Iona Road, with her grandson-in-law, Cory Peterson, 2nd Counselor in the Iona 5th Ward Bishopric, officiating, and her nephew, Elder Lynn Mickelsen, presiding.
The family will visit with friends Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood East Side Chapel (963 S. Ammon) and on Friday for one hour prior to services at the church.
Burial will be in Iona Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home East Side.
