Click Here To View Memorial Video Harland Dale "Sam" Goodwin, 86, of Idaho Falls, passed away May 2, 2015, at Fairwinds-Sand Creek Retirement Community of congestive heart failure. He was under the care of his family and OneSource Hospice. Sam was born March 9, 1929, in Henry, Nebraska, to Roy Fian Goodwin and Hazel Williams Goodwin. He spent his early years in Nebraska, then moved with his family to Meridian, Idaho, where he grew up and attended schools and graduated from Meridian High School. He also attended the University of Idaho and Idaho State University, where he earned an associate’s degree in electronics. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. On July 2, 1954, he married Patsy Colleen Murphy in Meridian, Idaho. To this union were born two children, Craig and Sheri. Sam and Patsy made their home in Idaho Falls, where Sam worked for 38 years as an electronics technician at the INL. He was a member of Methodist Church. He enjoyed bowling and was very competitive (as his left handed friends would know). His other passion was golf. He also enjoyed basketball, baseball, and football. Sam is survived by his loving wife of more than 60 years, Patsy Goodwin of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Craig (Kim) Goodwin of Buffalo, MN, daughter, Sheri (Kent Spencer) Thompson of Ammon, ID, sister, Betha (Jack) Foster of Caldwell, ID. 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Marvin, and a nephew Terry. Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2015, at Wood Funeral Home East Side (963 S. Ammon Road). The family will visit with friends on Friday from 1:00 p.m.to 1:45 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home. Military Rites will be performed following the services by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.

2 p.m. ,Friday, May 15, 2015 Wood Funeral Home East Side 963 South Ammon Road Idaho Falls, ID 83406 Notes: The family will visit with friends on Friday from 1-1:45 p.m prior to the services at the funeral home. Military Rites will be performed following services at the funeral home.
