SALLY YAMASAKI
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Sally Yamasaki, 76, lifelong resident of Idaho Falls, died December 20, 2002 at her home from an extended illness.
She was born Akiko Shoda on August 14, 1926 in Waputo, Washington to Tokuichi Shoda and Kazumi Takamura Shoda. She graduated from Heart Mountain High School. She married Sam H. Yamasaki November 30, 1946 in Idaho Falls and have lived in Idaho Falls since then. He preceded her in death December 7, 1981.
She was a member of the United Trinity Methodist Church and the Japanese American Citizen's League (JACL).
She has been a homemaker throughout her life and enjoyed participating with her grandchildren, Emilee and Jeffrey Gihring, in all of their activities, as well as cooking, gardening and traveling.
Surviving are:Sons: Gerald Yamasaki, Richard A. Yamasaki, Ted F. Yamasaki, andDaughter, Susan M. (Steve) Gihring, all of Idaho Falls. Two grandchildrenBrother: Ted ShodaSisters: Yo Kusaka, Mickey Morioka, Cathy Miyahata, Pat Takeda and June Kitamura.She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Kazuo and Lefty Shoda and her husband.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 27, 2002 at Trinity United Methodist Church (237 North Water) with Reverend Thomas Larson officiating. The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (2373 N. Ridge) and for one hour prior to the services on Friday at the church.
Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
