U. S. Army Sergeant Ryan David Sharp, 28, passed away December 3, 2011, at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Landstuhl, Germany, of injuries received while on a military mission in Afghanistan’s Kandahar province.
Ryan was born January 4, 1983, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to David Ross Sharp and Lynette Pardonnet Sharp. He grew up on the west side of Idaho Falls and graduated from Skyline High School in 2001.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Ryan enjoyed baseball, welding, and spending time outdoors. Ryan will be remembered for his compassion, his kind heart, and his love for his country.
After enlisting in the U. S. Army in October, 2002, Ryan proudly served his country on three tours of duty, one in Iraq, and was currently serving his second tour in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Throughout his military service he has been awarded the Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Achievement Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Combat Action Badge, three Overseas Ribbons, and three National Defense Service Ribbons.
While serving in the U. S. Army in Germany he met and married Ella Ligesia. They had two daughters, Sarah (now age 8) and Mia (now age 6), whom he adored. They were later divorced. He was later based in Fort Riley, Kansas, where he met and married Melissa Crowell. They later divorced.

two brothers, Michael (Karen) Sharp of Arlington, TX,
Matthew Sharp of Idaho Falls, ID,
two sisters, Michelle (Steve) Harrison of Pocatello, ID,
Jennifer (Nate) Whipple of Idaho Falls, ID;
grandparents, Ross & Marian Sharp of Preston, ID; and numerous extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lynn and Montie Sams Pardonnet, and two uncles, Gary Pardonnet and Gary Sharp.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 12, 2011, at the Idaho Falls LDS Eagle Rock Stake Center, 2020 South Charlotte Drive, with Bishop Bruce Machen of the Idaho Falls 39th Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, and 10 to 10:45 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
