MARY B. HANSON
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Ruth Mary Breed Hanson ,80, of Gibbonsville, passed away February 23, 2006, at Good Samaritan Care Center in Idaho Falls. She was under the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho..
She was born May 31, 1925, in Port Orchard , Washington, to John Locke Breed and Mildred Elizabeth Stacey Breed. She grew up and attended schools there and in 1950 graduated from the University of Washington with a BA in Child Development. She taught school in Honolulu for one year and then in Seattle for one year.
On September 15, 1951, she married David C. Hanson, from Tacoma, in Port Orchard, and in 1952 they moved to Idaho Falls, where they lived until 1991. At that time they retired and moved to Gibbonsville, Idaho. She was a homemaker and mother.
Mary was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church , AAUW, a life member of the Idaho Falls Art Guild, Idaho Watercolor Society, and Salmon Art Guild. She was a very talented watercolorist and enjoyed taking photos of and painting all types of flowers and old buildings. She also enjoyed camping, rock hunting, and knitting.
She is survived by her husband, David Hanson of Gibbonsville, a daughter Christine (David) Neale of Calgary, Canada; a son, Roy (Terry) Hanson of Burley ID; a daughter, Carolyn Hanson of Fort Davis, TX; a sister, Betty Thompson of McCall, ID; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2006, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 237 North Water Avenue, Idaho Falls, with Pastor Brenda Sene officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday for one hour prior to the services at the church.
Memorial Services will also be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2006, at the Salmon River Chapel (504 Finstur) in Salmon.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wood Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Avenue, 6th Floor, New York, NY 10001 (or online at http://www.alzfdn.org), the Eagle Rock Art Guild, P.O.
