Ruth Genene Eddins, 79, of Idaho Falls, passed away at home May 15, 2012, surrounded by her family and friends.
Ruth was born March 29, 1933, in Lyman, Idaho, the youngest of ten children born to Homer Peterson and Luella Arnold Peterson.
She attended Madison High School with the class of 1951 in Rexburg, Idaho, until she met Sam Eddins. On September 1, 1950, she married Sam. After several moves, they finally made their home in Idaho Falls. Shortly after settling in with a family, Ruth obtained her GED in Idaho Falls and joined the work force.
Ruth started working some seasonal jobs with the potato warehouses, then in the early 1960's she started with School District 91, working in the kitchen at Clair E. Gale Junior High School, where she kept an eye on Stuart and Dennis during lunch. In about 1969 she started working in the office of the Idaho Falls Live Stock Auction, leaving twice, once to move to Boise to work for an air mail service, and then to work at the Bank of Commerce, then to sell real estate for Century Twenty One. She returned to the stock yards, where she managed the office until retirement February 29, 2012. Shortly after her retirement she was diagnosed with a very aggressive kidney cancer.
Ruth was known and loved by many stockmen. She loved her children and was particularly fond of traveling the world with family members and friends. She was always ready to tell about her trips to Budapest, Prague, Russia, Germany, England, Croatia, Switzerland, Holland, Belgium, Italy, France, Dubai, Jordan, Yemen, Canada, Mexico, and most USA states. Her favorite states were Louisiana, Delaware, New York, California, Montana, Wyoming, and South Dakota.
“ Oh the places you’ll go. “
She is survived by her husband, Sam Eddins of Idaho Falls, three children, Stuart (Debra) Eddins, Dennis (Rita) Eddins, and Genene Eddins, all of Idaho Falls, grandchildren, Delsa Doherty, Holly Eddins, Erin Eddins, Courtney Genene Fife, Blake Fife, Carter Daley and seven great grandchildren.
