Ruth Elaine (Dye) Moss

Ruth Elaine Dye Moss, 96, of Idaho Falls, passed away January 16, 2024, at her daughter’s home. She was under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice and her loving family.

Ruth was born October 2, 1927, in Firth, Idaho. She was the 3rd child of six children. The only daughter of Myron and Lucy Dye. Being the only daughter, she took on the task of caring for her younger brothers as if they were her own. At the young age of 12, she began baby sitting other small children. Mom definitely had the knack to stop a childs’ tears and bring on the smiles and laughter. When she was 16 she lied about her age so she could work in a café. She would say she never LIED, she just BENT THE TRUTH a little. Ruth was an excellent cook, but will be remembered most for her delicious cinnamon rolls. She was a hard worker, no matter what the job was, she did it well. She always said "If you aren't at least 1 5 minutes early for work, you are late.”

On September 14, 1947, she married the love of her life, Clinton Moore. To this union were born five blessed children, Steve, Gene, Karen, Kathy, and her baby, Rod. No matter how old Rod is, he will always be her baby. Ruth and Clinton were later sealed in the temple on November 12, 1954. This was something Ruth was very proud of. She held many teaching positions in the church, but her favorite was the Mia Maid teacher. Ruth enjoyed taking the girls up to Wolverine canyon on many camping trips.

Ruth and Clinton spent 48 happy years together. Some of her favorite times were spent fishing. He would always make sure her pole was baited and ready before he fixed his own. She would always spit on the worm with black licorice and said it would “guarantee she caught the first fish.” Clinton passed on April 25th, 1994.

She met Tom Moss while working at Ernies cafe. He said he wanted to be quick and marry her before someone else did. He wanted to keep her good cooking all for himself. She married Tom on May 1 6, 1996. He later passed on July 1 3, 2002. At this time in her life, Ruth moved to Utah to live with her daughter,  Karen.

During a camping trip she met the camp host, Lee. They were married on April 14, 2005. Ruth and Lee were later divorced.

Ruth was always a role model for so many. Teaching us to always do the right thing and treating others with respect. Never saying or doing anything bad, except for the times she and her brothers would sneak out and rob the neighbors watermelon patch.

She was faced with many illnesses in her life and struggled diabetes for over 40 years, had a pace maker implanted for over 20 years, and was a breast cancer survivor.

She leaves behind five children, 22 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, and 16 great-great grandchildren. Which to her was a great accomplishment. Ruth was as proud as a peacock. She also leaves behind several step kids and their families.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Ririe-Shelton Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 1-2 p.m. prior at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road.
