RUTH COOK
SALT LAKE CITY, UT -- Ruth Snarr Cook passed away of natural causes on February 15, 2002, at her home in Salt Lake City. She was the daughter of A.D. and Annie Bishop Snarr, whom she adored. She was born in Idaho Falls on October 28, 1922, and lived there until the last two years of her life.
She married Reed L. Cook in the Idaho Falls Temple. Together they spent many happy years raising their children in their beloved red house on 6th Street. Their home was always open to family and friends and Ruth had plenty of "refreshments" on hand to serve to everyone, especially her favorite – chocolates.
Ruth was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where she served in many positions through the years.
Ruth had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh, especially at herself and all the quirky little things she said and did. Ruth loved people and had many wonderful friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with her friends at her bridge clubs. She was diligent about maintaining contact with her friends even after moving to Salt Lake. She hated to write letters so she was continuously calling everyone, especially after she discovered the 99 cents for 20 minutes special rate.
Although she missed her family and friends in Idaho Falls, she was happy to be in Salt Lake so she could spend time with her children and grandchildren. Thanks to all of her friends who took the time to stay in touch with her after she moved. Thanks also to the people of the Willow Creek 2nd Ward who made her feel at home there.
Ruth is survived by her children Rand (Linda), RaNae Hoyt (Paul) and Redge (Susan), seven grandchildren Lisa (Kevin) Nunes and Jeffrey, Jeremy, Jenna, Allison, Brian and Bradley Cook, brother Earl Snarr, and sister Lois Rammell. Preceded in death by husband Reed, grandson Ryan, brothers Roy, Dick and Merland, and sisters Elma and Ann.
At Ruth’s request, a private graveside service will be held for family members. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to a favorite charity. Her children invite Ruth’’s friends and family to join them in a celebration of her life to be held on Saturday, February 23rd from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. at the Shilo Inn on Lindsay Blvd. A buffet lunch will be served.
Ruth’s special request was that her friends remember her with a smile.
Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park under the direction of Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, Idaho Falls, ID 83402-4092 Phone 522-2751. FAX 522-5413.
