Ruth Madorah McGee Chambers, 88, of Idaho Falls, passed away December 9, 2016, at Turtle & Crane Assisted Living Center. She was under the loving care of her family and Aspen Home Health & Hospice.

Ruth was born February 28, 1928, in Lewiston, Utah, to Claude Clifford McGee and Ethel Dean Blair McGee. She grew up and attended schools in Lewiston and graduated from North Cache High School in Richmond, Utah.

On December 20, 1946, she married Jay Thurston Chambers in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple. They made their home in Idaho Falls, where they raised their four children, Claudia, Marilyn, Christine, and Peggy. Ruth was a homemaker and mother. Jay passed away November 1, 2016.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many church callings over the years. She enjoyed gardening and tending her flower beds, walking with friends, making blankets for her grandkids, doing temple work, and car rides.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Marilyn (Ron) Larson of Ammon, ID, daughter, Christine (Ed) Hemmer of Idaho Falls, ID, daughter, Peggy (Will) Garvin of Idaho Falls, ID; 18 grandchildren and 56 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jay, her parents, her daughter Claudia Cook and son-in-law Lynn Cook, a granddaughter, Shelly Garvin, a grandson, Adrian Cook, and a brother, Howard McGee.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 16, 2016, at the Idaho Falls LDS Grandview Ward, 1450 Mountain View Lane, with Bishop Jeff Clifford officiating. The family will visit with friends from 12:00 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the New Sweden Cemetery.
