RUTH BECKSTEAD
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Ruth Alma Layland Beckstead died June 29, 2005, at her home.
She was born February 9, 1946, in Montpelier, Idaho, to Sophie Ann Layland and John Miller Layland. She attended elementary school in Cokeville, Wyoming. The family later moved to Idaho Falls, where Ruth graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1964.
In 1967 Ruth was married to Garl Beckstead in Idaho Falls, and they were later divorced. Following high school, Ruth became a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked at the Idaho Falls Clinic. She also worked for many years as a waitress at the Westbank Coffee Shop and Restaurant, and at the Joshua Smith Foundation.
She was an active member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church and served as a Eucharistic Minister.
She is survived by
a sister, Judith Lucke of Kent, Washington,
and a brother, Terry L. (Cindy) Layland of Idaho Falls.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Larry Layland and John Michael Layland.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2005, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Idaho Falls.
A Memorial Mass in her honor will be said Friday, November 4, 2005, at 8:15 p.m. at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church (855 South Lee).
Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
