Ruth Ann Lyon-Bateman, 60, of Idaho Falls, passed away Friday, March 21, 2014, at her home. She was under the care of Encompass Hospice. Ruth was born August 10, 1953, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She spent the next fourteen years living between southern California, with her mother in the winter and between the farm in Idaho Falls and the ranch by Henry’s Lake in the summer with her father and Granny. At age fifteen, she moved to Idaho Falls with her father, graduating from Skyline High School in 1971. She attended college in Thermopolis, Wyoming, earning a Veterinary nursing degree which profession she worked in for ten years. In 1980 she acquired a small piece of the farm and a portion of the Henry’s Lake Ranch where she raised cattle and a few horses. In 1985 she joined the INL guard force, first as a construction escort, then as a protective force officer. In 1989, she married Kent L. Bateman, an iron worker with Local 732. Her last nine years, she worked as a security officer at the Northend before retiring in 2010. After retiring, she enjoyed working with her husband of twenty-five years, with the cattle and riding horses. She is survived by her husband, Kent L. Bateman of Idaho Falls and her sister Mary Linderman. She was preceded in death by her parents Jimmy Bruce and Geneva. The family suggests donations to Encompass Hospice, 3686 Washington Parkway, Idaho Falls, ID 83404. No services will be held.
