RUTH E. BARNES
IDAHO FALLS, ID - Ruth Elzada Sanders Barnes, 96, of Idaho
Falls, died August 19, 2003 at the home of her daughter, Sarah Beth Barnes,
in Idaho Falls.
She was born April 2, 1907, in Rexburg, Idaho to Charles
Albert Sanders and Sarah Howell Sanders. She attended grade school in Lima,
Montana and Rexburg, Idaho. She was a Ricks Academy graduate. Later she
attended University of Idaho, Utah State University and Dixie College in
St. George. She pursued many other academic opportunities.
She married Forrest Walker Barnes on November 24, 1926,
in Rexburg, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS
Temple. They made their home in Hamer and Swan Valley, Idaho and in Logan,
Utah. For a number of years she lived in the Salt Lake Valley area.
She taught school at Hamer and Roberts High School and
was employed by General Electric at the AEC Site as an Assistant to Library
Documents and worked as an Administrative Director of Documents at the Brigham
City, Utah based Thiokol Missile Program.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints. She and her husband served in teaching and leadership positions.
They filled a two-year mission in the San Diego, CA area. She was Stake
librarian and organized meeting house libraries in Hamer, Swan Valley and
in the Poston, Arizona Branch.
She enjoyed all of the arts of homemaking and gardening.
While living in Hamer she and her husband frequently sang in a double mixed
quartet. She was an avid reader, loved writing histories and oil painting.

Sister: Sarah Smith, Wendell, ID
18 Grandchildren, 87 Great Grandchildren, and 14 Great Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August
23, 2003, at Wood East Side Chapel (963 S. Ammon Rd.) with Bishop Robert
Clark, of the Ucon 3rd Ward, officiating. The family will meet with friends
for one hour prior to the services. Burial will be at Fielding Memorial
Park under the direction of Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road,
Idaho Falls, ID 83406.
