Russell Kenneth Owen, 88, of Ammon, passed away on August 6, 2012, at his home. He was born August 28, 1923, in Ashton, Idaho to Lewis Moss Owen and Ruth Luree Jeffrey Owen. The family moved to Idaho Falls where he attended school and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. He served in the U.S. Army for a period of time and in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. On September 23, 1950, he married Elsie Irene Crow in Ammon. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He worked as a cameraman for KID TV, as a clerk for the United States Post Office, and as a television repairman for Bonneville Service and Deseret Industries. Russell was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Before joining the church he was actively involved and served as cubmaster. After he joined he held various callings including membership clerk, executive secretary and librarian. He enjoyed building and repairing electronics and working with today’s technology. He loved seeing and visiting people, riding bicycles, camping, and especially being with and helping his family. Survivors include: Wife: Elsie Owen, Ammon, ID Son: Ricky L. (Dalene) Owen, Idaho Falls, ID Son: Randy K (Val) Owen, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Peggy (Doug) Taylor, Idaho Falls, ID Son: Kenneth Ray (Wendy) Owen, Ammon, ID Daughter: Loni (Kent) Wilson, Spanish Fork, UT Daughter: Lori (Doug) May, Payson, UT Sister: Gladys (Jay) Roper, Idaho Falls, ID Sister: Bernice Noblitt, Portland, OR 21 Grandchildren and 17 Great Grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Floyd; a sister, Louise; and a grandson, Seth Owen, as well as Seth’s wife, Jessica. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, August 10, 2012, at the Ammon LDS 6th Ward, 2150 Avocet Avenue, with Bishop Cam Payne officiating. The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 6-8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon, and Friday from 12 to 12:45 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery with military rites performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
