Dr. Rulon "Rob Robison" Robison

Rulon “Rob” Douglas Robison, 79, of Ammon, Idaho, passed peacefully from this life at his home on Saturday, July 30, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. Rob was born on September 23, 1931, in his Grandmother Molen’s home in Ammon, Idaho, to Roy Asper Robison and Ruby Evelyn Molen Robison. He was the fourth of seven children. Rob grew up on the family ranch, homesteaded by his Grandpa Robison, in Long Valley, southeast of Idaho Falls. His childhood was full of adventure and hard work. He attended school in a one room school house above Bone until the age of eight. He loved to ski in the winter and fish in Willow Creek in the summer. Rob completed his schooling in Ammon and later graduated from Idaho Falls High School. As an adult, Rob graduated from Brigham Young University after serving an LDS mission in the East Central States Mission. While attending BYU, Rob met his eternal sweetheart, Joan Jaquet Holladay. On June 10, 1955, they were married in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They moved to Washington D.C., where he attended George Washington University Medical School. Upon graduation, he completed a residency in Obstetrics / Gynecology at the University of Utah. During this time he was called to active duty and served as a captain in the U.S. Army at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. Rob and Joan made their home in Idaho Falls, but eventually moved to Ammon, the area he loved, to raise their family. He spent 35 years practicing OB/GYN and delivered more than 7,000 babies before retiring in 1997. He loved his profession because he felt it a wonderful blessing to bring special new spirits into this world. Rob had many hobbies and interests including: fly fishing in front of the family cabin on Henry’s Fork in Island Park, skiing, piloting an airplane and glider, snowmobiling, farming, gardening and later in life, golfing. His greatest joy, however, was his family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He also spent his life serving as a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had a special love for missionary work. He served as President of the Ammon Stake, as a Regional Representative, as Regional Public Affairs Director and as Mission President of the Michigan, Detroit Mission. He and his beloved wife Joan also enjoyed serving in the Washington D.C. Temple and in the Nauvoo, Illinois Mission, where he was the mission physician. He was a Patriarch at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joan; sons, David (Joni) Robison of Las Vegas, Nevada, Dan (Marnie) Robison of St. George, Utah, Doug (Kris) Robison of Las Vegas, Nevada, Steve (Ellen) Robison of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Jon (Julia) Robison of Logan, Utah, and daughter, Rebecca (Jay) Seedall of Pocatello, Idaho; 33 grandchildren and two great grandchildren; brothers, Val (Connie) Robison of Orem, Utah, and Steve (ReNae) Robison of Salt Lake City, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents; twin daughters, Mary and Carrie; three brothers, Maurice, Richard, and Kay, and his sister, Shirley Robinson. The family expresses heartfelt thanks to the caring staff of Monticello Assisted Living home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August, 6, 2011, at the Ammon LDS Stake Center, 2055 S. Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 Friday, August 5th, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and Saturday from Noon to 12:45 p.m. at the church. Interment will be at Ammon Cemetery. Veterans Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and the Idaho Honor Guard. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
