Rullen Jay Paulsen, 74, of Idaho Falls passed away November 21, 2012 due to complications following a second stroke. He died at home surrounded by his family.
He was born December 19, 1937 to Roy and Ella Paulsen of Idaho Falls. Rullen shared his childhood with his only brother Ronald Paulsen. He graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1955 and after furthering his education he bought Johnson's Radiator Service which he owned and operated until he retired.
Rullen, married his high school sweetheart, Barbara E. Quinton, on February 11th, 1955. During their nearly 58 years of marriage Rullen and Barbara spent many wonderful days together with their four children; LeAnn Nichols, Steven Rullen Paulsen, Gary Lynn and (Shelli) Paulsen, and Mark Jay and (Brenda) Paulsen. Rullen, who was a family man. He also took care of his mother Ella who now resides at Turtle and Crane, during his retirement. He was a loving father and grandparent to 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his father Roy and his grandson Ryan George Paulsen.
Rullen, enjoyed many of nature's great gifts. He spent much of his free time fishing in Idaho with his sons and grandchildren. He enjoyed the outdoors so much he purchased land in Island Park and built a cabin to which he would retreat to nearly every weekend. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, four wheelers, and snow machines throughout the surrounding wilderness. Rullen also enjoyed playing pool and was a long time member of his pool team. He enjoyed life to the fullest and like every grandpa, he always had a story for every occasion.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at the Ammon 3rd Ward Building (2150 Avocet). The family will visit with friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood East Side (963 S. Ammon Rd.) and from 12 to 12:45 p.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Taylor Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
