RUBY E. MILLS
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Ruby Elva Emerick Mills, 87, died
Tuesday evening at Idaho Falls Care Center due to natural causes. She
was a resident of Lincoln Court for close to 20 years. Ruby was born September
3, 1916 in McCool Junction, Nebraska, the daughter of Lewis Emerick and
May Ohler Emerick.
She grew up and later graduated from high school in Fairmont, Neb.
Ruby focused a lot of effort into educating children,
she participated in the community as a school teacher, Sunday school teacher,
and 4H club teacher in Nebraska. Music was a major part of Ruby’s
life, she studied piano for 6 years and was an active member of the choir
in the Fairmont Methodist Church. She was also the pianist and music leader
for Faithful Workers Club.
Ruby married William Howard Mills on April 4, 1936 in
Fairmont; they had 3 children together. Ruby and Howard lived in Fairmont
for a few years contributing to the family farm. In 1940, they moved to
Idaho Falls, continued to farm and later purchased a home in Lincoln,
Idaho. Ruby focused her time on raising their children and she was a charter
member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
Survivors include daughter Margaret Ilene Mills of Old
Town, ID; daughter Mrs. Jim (Patricia Jean) Westergard of Idaho Falls,
ID; six grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Harry
L. Mills; two brothers, Harold and Noble Emerick; and one grandson, David
W. Westergard.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday,
June 28, 2004, at Fielding Memorial Park and Reverend Thom Larson of Trinity
Methodist Church will be officiating.
