Rual Campbell

Rual Fullmer Campbell, 83, of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully Friday, April 15, 2011, in Shelley, Idaho. He was under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice. He was born November 17, 1927 in Tetonia, Idaho to Anna Almedia Fullmer Campbell and Bryant Garr Campbell. He was the sixth of 11 children. His family moved from Providence, Utah in 1900 to homestead the Tetonia dry farm. He attended schools at Tetonia Elementary, Driggs Jr. High, and Driggs High. Rual loved sports, especially playing baseball. He began working at a very young age and was a hard worker and a devoted family man. He proudly served in the U.S. Army with the T5 Amphibious Engineers. While serving in the military, he developed a love for building ramps and operating heavy equipment for unloading heavy artillery. He married Beverly Speas on April 11, 1953 in Elko, Nevada and had three children. They were later divorced. He married Vera Crawford on September 23, 1966. He worked for Don Aslett Construction and Burgraff Construction as a heavy equipment operator until he retired. He loved his work and built many roads and highways throughout the western states. After Rual retired, he enjoyed traveling to Arizona every winter with his wife Vera, camping, and fishing. After Rual lost his wife, he was thankful to have met Verla Hill and enjoyed her special care, friendship, and companionship. Rual was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching football, basketball, and baseball. He particularly loved spending time with his family. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Dad, you never ceased to amaze us with your strength and courage as you faced the challenges and trials throughout this battle. You beat all odds and we will miss you so much. You truly will go in the record books as a legend and medical miracle. We love you, will always remember you, and have been so blessed with your life and great examples.
