Roy Muehlfeit

Click here to watch a 90th birthday tribute to Roy. Roy August Muehlfeit, 96, of Idaho Falls, passed away surrounded by his family on August 8, 2018 at his home. He was under the care of his family, Alliance Hospice and special nurse, Vicki. Roy was born May 23, 1922, in Coltman, Idaho, to August Muehlfeit and Ida Mary Hecker Muehlfeit. He grew up in the area and attended Coltman Elementary and later Ucon High School. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II as a Corporal First Class. On August 24, 1942, he married Cleo Elaine Jones in Menan, Idaho, at the home of John T. Poole. To this union were born six children: Coleen, Linda, Lynn, Paulette, Karen, and Nancy. Roy and Cleo made their home in Coltman, where Roy was a cattleman and potato farmer on the ground his grandparents homesteaded. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed farming, camping, fishing, baseball, and horses. In addition he enjoyed being an inventor, mechanic, caregiver, and going to the office (Mitchell’s). Roy is survived by his daughter, Coleen (Harry) Smith of Delta, UT; daughter, Linda Elliott of Rigby, ID; son, Lynn (DiAnn) Muehlfeit of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Paulette (Terry) Beckstead of Salt Lake City, UT; daughter, Karen Crookston of Logan, UT; daughter, Nancy (Robert) North of Riverton, UT; sister, Lena Mae (Don) Korth of Logan, UT; 27 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, siblings, Ella K. Baker, Maxine I. Powers, and Paul Fredrick Muehlfeit, and grandchildren, Patrick Alan Elliott, Henry Nicholas Smith, and Ashlee Ann Elliott. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 11, 2018, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Rd. The family will visit with friends from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Saturday at Wood East Side. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
