Roy Sherman Hansen

Roy Sherman Hansen, 68, of Idaho Falls, passed away on October 1, 2023, at his home.

Roy was born August 16, 1955, in Logan, Utah, to Sherman Hansen and Donna Mabel Davis Hansen. He grew up and attended schools in Logan, Utah, graduating from Logan High School. While in high school, he played the clarinet and traveled Europe with their band. Attending technical school in Salt Lake City, Utah, he received his degree in Computer Sciences and served an LDS mission in the Sao Paulo, Brazil Mission.

On April 20, 1979, he married Linda Randall Hansen in the Idaho Falls, Idaho Temple. He was a devoted husband for 41 years before Linda passed away in 2021. Roy and Linda welcomed two children, whom they loved dearly. He worked as a contracted Software Engineer that would transfer him and his family to live in several states, eventually settling in Colorado. After retirement, he moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho, to be closer to family.

He loved to spend time in the outdoors backpacking, hiking, camping, and fishing throughout the years. He was an avid photographer and loved photographing animals and nature.

Roy is survived by his daughter, Hilary (Bryan) Cook of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Shaun Hansen of Westminster, CO; brother, Don (Kayla) Hansen of Bountiful, UT; and two grandchildren, Kyleigh and Mason.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Hansen; mother, Donna Hansen; father, Sherman Hansen; sister, Vicki Swan; and grandson, Brayden Cook.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2023, in the Coltman LDS Church located at 12448 N. 5th E., Idaho Falls, ID 83401. Interment will be in the Central Cemetery of Grant, Idaho.
