Roy Frank Bird, 72, of Idaho Falls, passed away on January 8, 2013, at his home. He was under the care of his loving family and Hearts for Hospice. He was born November 9, 1940, in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Frank Bird and Girda Lois Rich Bird. He grew up and attended schools in the area, graduating from Idaho Falls High School. He furthered his education by attending Ricks College in Rexburg. On February 15, 1962, he married Sophronia Ann Welker in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He worked as a Data Processor for the Bank of Commerce. He also belonged to the Toastmasters club in Idaho Falls. Roy was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed writing stories and making wooden toys. He had a patent for plastic toys, called space tiles, and did his own designs in ceramics. He is survived by: Wife: Sophronia Ann Bird, Idaho Falls, ID Son: Tregg Roy Bird, Idaho Falls, ID Son: Todd Jay Bird, Idaho Falls, ID Son: Travis Paul Bird, Idaho Falls, ID Son: Tobin Frank Bird, Idaho Falls, ID Son: Terrell Anthony Bird, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Melanie Ann Bastar, Idaho Falls, ID Brother: Lawrence Bird, Idaho Falls, ID Brother: Floyd (Trudy) Bird, Boise, ID Sister: Norma (Larry) Osmond, Idaho Falls, ID Sister: Denise (Paul) Barnes, Phoenix, AZ 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2013, at the Idaho Falls LDS Kearney 3rd Ward (1860 Kearney Street) with Bishop Donald Harris officiating. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side (963 S. Ammon Rd.) and on Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.

The family will visit with friends on Friday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side (963 S. Ammon) and on Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church.
