Roxanne Cook

Roxanne “Sandy” Thiele Cook 65, of Idaho Falls, passed away February 6, 2013 at her home. Sandy was born October 28, 1948 in Minot, North Dakota to Norman Edward Thiele and Olga Miller Thiele. She grew up in North Dakota. The family moved to Idaho and she graduated from Blackfoot High School, continued her education at Eastern Idaho Technical College in Idaho Falls. She was stationed in Germany and was a cook in the Army during the Vietnam War, worked as a postal delivery driver, was the owner of the Tree House Café in Firth, Idaho. She won the Betty Crocker Award in Idaho for baking, at which she was great. On June 1, 1978 she married Paul Cook in Island Park, Idaho. Together they raised their two sons. They were later separated. In later life Sandy finished her studies as a paralegal. She was a wonderful writer. She liked to help people. She was very tenacious. Sandy was a member of the Lutheran Church. She loved a clean house, gardening, doing puzzles, collecting gems and spending time with her grandchildren. She valued time spent talking by telephone with her brothers. Survivors include her son: Seth Michael Cook of Pocatello, ID, Son: Christopher (Angela) Paul Cook of Idaho Falls, ID, Brother: Layne Benjamin (Nancy) Thiele of Altoona, PA, Brother: Craig Norman Thiele of Tacoma, WA, and 3 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Shelley Jean Thiele. Sandy will be loved and missed. Family and friends will gather from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the American Legion Hall (485 Constitution Way), Saturday, February 16, 2013.
