Rotha Jean Mercer Howard, 82, of Idaho Falls, passed away on April 28, 2015, at Morningstar Assisted Living Center.
She was born April 12, 1933, in Nardin, Oklahoma to Stanton Edward Mercer, Sr. and Ethel Diemer Mercer. The family moved to Blackwell, Oklahoma, where she graduated from Blackwell High School in 1951.
On November 25, 1953, she married Odell John Howard in Blackwell. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1969. Rotha was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She also worked as a secretary at the Idaho National Laboratory. She served for one year as the President of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Ladies Auxiliary.
Rotha was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, served in numerous callings, and for years worked in the Name Extraction Program. She enjoyed embroidery, crocheting, and genealogy.

Daughter: Tandy Lea (David) Bales of Hobbs, NM
Sister: Clella Leen, Blackwell of OK
Sister: Velma Barker, Topeka of KS
Sister: Myrna Hardiman, Blackwell of OK
15 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Odell; a daughter, Vicki Lea Howard; four brothers and two sisters.
Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2015, at the Taylor Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue, Idaho Falls.
