Ross Sharp

Ross Ellsworth Sharp, 89, of Idaho Falls, passed away October 16, 2019, at Fairwinds-Sand Creek Retirement Community.  He was under the care of Alliance Hospice.

Ross was born July 8, 1930, in Preston, Idaho, to Arland Edgar Sharp and Ruby Blanche Woolf.  He grew up and attended schools in Preston and graduated from Preston High School. He also attended Utah State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in wildlife management.

On November 25, 1953, Ross married Marian Rose Hewett in Logan, Utah.  Together they raised four children, David, Deborah, Gary, and Beverly. Ross and Marian made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where he worked as a Range Conservationist for Bureau of Land Management.

He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and  served as High Priest group leader, ward clerk, bishopric counselor, and executive secretary.  In his spare time, he enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and rock hounding. He was a commissioned U.S. Air Force officer through ROTC.

Ross is survived by his loving wife of Idaho Falls, ID; children, David Ross (Lynette) Sharp of Idaho Falls, ID, Deborah Kay (Karl) Wilson of Henderson, NV, and Beverly Dawn (Neal) Ard of Iona, ID; sisters, Betty (Loren) Jenks of Sequim, WA, Dixie (Steven) Larsen of Logan, UT, and Darlis Brown of Logan, UT; 14  grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arland and Ruby Sharp; son, Gary Lynn Sharp;  brother, Arland Sharp, Jr.; sisters, Roma Jean Sharp and Dorothy Griffith; and grandson, Ryan David Sharp.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 26, 2019, at the Parkview Ward building, 2051 S. Emerson, with Bishop Merwin officiating.  The family will visit with friends from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.  Burial will be in the Preston City Cemetery.
