Leon Ross Miner, 98, of Idaho Falls and Ammon passed away November 19, 2010 at the home of his daughter. He was born May 26, 1912 in Boise to Albert Leon Miner and Lottie Noble Miner. He grew up and attended schools in the Magna, Utah area and graduated from West High School in Salt Lake City. He continued his education at the McCune School of Music & Art, also in Salt Lake. On August 24, 1938, Ross married Arlean Foy in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Together they raised five children. Arlene passed away September 15, 1998. Ross was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a member of two bishoprics and held various other callings including home teacher. Ross and Arlean served a senior mission together to Albuquerque, New Mexico. Ross worked as a plastics technician for Sylvania Defense Lab and as a musical instrument repairman for Chesbro Music. He enjoyed music, working with his hands, camping, singing in barbershop quartets, directing church choirs, and spending time with his family and grandkids. Survivors include his five daughters: Sally Lynn Miner of Las Vegas, NV; Sharon (Duane) Perry of Ammon, ID; Rosalie (Harvey) Nielsen of Ammon, ID; Barbara Sue (David) Elliot of Emery, UT; and Cheris Lane of Molino, OR. He is also survived by one brother, Verl R. (Mary) Miner of Auburn, CA. 27 Grandchildren & 26 Great Grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Arlean, his brother Vern Miner, and his threes sisters Beth Miner, Gwenevere Hickman, and Bernice Kohler. Funeral services for Ross will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at Wood Funeral Home East Side (963 South Ammon Road) with a visitation for family and friends beginning one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Ammon Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
