Click Here To View Memorial Video Ross Dean Gneiting, 68, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 30, 2014, surrounded by his family at his home of Parkinson’s Disease. He was under the care of Aspen Home Health and Hospice. Ross was born October 14, 1945, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Dean Emery Gneiting and Verla Taylor Gneiting. He grew up and attended schools in Coltman and graduated from Bonneville High School. He also attended Ricks College, and Weber State University, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education. On August 18, 1967, he married Linda Ann Horkley in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. To this union were born five children, Holly, Matthew, Heather, April, and Noelle. Ross and Linda made their home in Coltman, Idaho, where Ross was a third generation farmer. He also worked as a schoolteacher for Rigby High School and Midway Junior High School, a security guard at the INL site and at the LDS temple. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Ross served an LDS mission to Scotland for two years. He served in a BYU Bishopric, as an Elders Quorum teacher, an Executive Secretary, and numerous other callings. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, shooting sports, cruises, traveling, camping, basketball, and football. He also enjoyed snowmobiling and the outdoors. Ross participated in the Senior Olympics in St. George, Utah, where his team won a gold metal in Basketball. Ross never met anyone with whom he didn’t end up being a friend. Ross had a zest for life and loved to have fun, a trait that carried over to his family. He loved to tease and joke with people and could always remember names. He was a great husband, dad, and granddad. Ross is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Linda Gneiting of Idaho Falls; daughter, Holly (Bruce) Haderlie of Iona; son, Matthew (Vickie) Gneiting of Coltman; daughter, Heather (Doug) Marley of Iona; daughter, April “Annie” (Justin) Moedl of Iona; daughter, Noelle (Trevor) Cook of Idaho Falls; sister, Doris (Tom) Ritchie of Iona; sister, Marjorie (Thayne) Lords of Idaho Falls; sister, Julia (Ray) Iglinski of Coltman; sister, Nola (Larry Kent) Steinmetz of Rigby; sister, Elaine (D.) Simmons, serving a mission in Tonga; and 18 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Kenneth, and brother-in-law Ray Iglinski. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2014, at the Coltman 2nd LDS Ward building, 12448 North 5th East, with Bishop Dennis Love officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6–8 p.m. Sunday at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road and 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Grant Central Cemetery.
